Urge Tacoma City Council to Save Tideflats Jobs with Consistent Regulations
On Wednesday, July 21 at 4:30pm, the Infrastructure Planning and Sustainability Committee of the Tacoma City Council plans to meet to discuss increasing the use of "Conditional Use Permits" (CUPs). CUPs will drive away Tacoma jobs!

During the Non-Interim Regulations debate, CUPs were a significant source of controversy because many agree with the MIC that the increased use of CUPs will cost Tacoma and our region living-wage jobs.
CUPs change the approval process for new economic activity by getting rid of a strictly defined framework. Instead, the approval process is switched to a flexible decision-making process that allows the Hearing Examiner to deny a project application based on vague criteria that is not uniformly applied to every project.
To encourage investment from current and potential living wage employers in Tacoma we need a consistent permitting framework for approval that is not subject to the political whims of elected officials.
We again, need your voice!
Please send a written comment before the meeting on July 21 urging the Council not to increase the use of Conditional Use Permits in Tacoma.
