Raymond Paul Tobkin (Randy) was born in Portland, Oregon on December 19,1954 to Bernard R. and Helen Ann Tobkin. Randy passed away on Friday, May 15th, 2026, in Nampa, Idaho.
He is survived by one brother, Robert and three sisters, Demarus Butenschoen of Bellingham, Washington: Roxanne Johannson of Ottawa, Ontario: Jewel Hysmith of Nampa, Idaho. He was preceded in death by Donna Bohle formally of Bellingham, Washington.
He loved the outdoors spending time with his yellow lab Kutter. Hunting was an important part of his life with his friends, many of whom go back to his grade school time at Carl Cozier!
Randy worked as a pipefitter for many years throughout the United States and was known for his humor and dedication.

Rolland “Rolly” Lee Chrest

Rolland “Rolly” Lee Chrest, 84, of Longview, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025, at his home after a long and resilient battle with cancer.
Rolly was born June 29, 1940, in Bowbells, N.D., to Vernon and Henrietta (Gleave) Chrest. In 1951, he moved with his family to Longview, Wash., where he graduated from R.A. Long High School in 1958.
In 1960, Rolly married Sharon Miller, and together they raised their two children in Longview. A hardworking man with an unwavering work ethic, Rolly made his living as a pipe fitter with Local Union 26 and also took pride in farming and raising cattle.
Rolly was known for his quick wit, captivating storytelling, and ability to bring laughter wherever he went. A strong and steady presence, many considered him the toughest man they knew – yet to his grandchildren, he was a soft-hearted teddy bear.
In his younger years, Rolly was a Golden Gloves boxer and later became a boxing coach. He was actively involved in his community, coaching Little League baseball and participating in bowling, basketball, shuffleboard, and foosball leagues. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mowing the lawn any chance he got, and sharing a cold beer with family and friends in his shop. Rolly was also a member of the Rainier Eagles and the Ocean Park Moose.
He is survived by his daughter, JoAnn Nelson (Keith); his son, Bart Chrest (Julie); three granddaughters, Amanda Nelson, Richelle Chrest, and Jamie Chrest; two great-grandsons, Shane Rusher and Keith Goodbla; his sister, Judi Whitehead; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon; his parents; his brother, Orville Chrest; and sisters Betty Masters, Verna Justin, and Lilia Winiarchik.
A celebration of Rolly’s life will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park, with a reception to follow.

Robert C. “Bob” Lasham 91, a long time Tacoma resident passed away at home after a brief illness on Saturday April 5, 2025. He was born in Tacoma on August 22, 1933 and was a third family generation commercial plumber and pipefitter retiring in 1997 from Nalley’s Fine Foods. At an early age, he moved to Tiburon, California with family and resided there with his uncle John McNeil at the boat house and plumbing business. Dad later moved back to Tacoma and within this time, he met the love of his life, our mother Shirley Henke, through the Waller Road gang of friends.
He graduated in 1951 from Puyallup High School and married mom on her 18th birthday in July after she graduated from Puyallup in 1953. Dad then entered and served with the United States Navy in San Diego from 1953 to 1957.
Mom and dad built and completed their only home in 1963 and have resided there ever since. His first car was a 1939 Chevrolet and had a love for motorcycles and all cars and trucks but what made him the happiest was being home with Mom and puttering around the house. He was truly one of a kind and was the most generous loving husband and father anyone could ask for. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Marjorie Lasham, his sister Kay Rauch and husband Ron and is survived by his wife Shirley of over 71 wonderful years, daughter, Cheryl Mattsen, son Dan (Melissa), daughter Kris Delorm (Brett), Three grandchildren Ashley Mattsen

Joseph A. Schaffer, age 72, passed away on January 7, 2022 at home.
He was born on May 15, 1949 to Joseph L. and Juanita E. Schaffer.
As a boy, Joe worked in the back of his father’s plumbing business as Head Floor Sweeper and Pipe Fitting Sorter.
His training served him well as he went on to a 39-year career as a plumber and pipe fitter and was a proud member of Western Washington UA Local 26 from which he still hails as a member.
Joe attended Kelso High School where he graduated in 1967. He then went to Lower Columbia College where, with the help of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 695 he completed a five-year apprenticeship which served him very well throughout his life. He jokingly claimed he could use trigonometry that he learned there to apply to his golf game. Final results of this were never disclosed.
Joe served 21 years as a trustee for the 2000+ member Plumbers and Pipefitters Council of the Northwest, until faltering health forced his retirement in November 2012.
Joe also volunteered many hours at St. Peter’s Hospital starting in 2009. He met and made many lasting friendships.
Joe is survived by his wife of 38 years, Theresa C. (Perry) Schaffer of Randle, WA. He met, and after one year of dating, married Theresa in 1984. They were soulmates who had a fun and rewarding marriage. Joe enjoyed golf, softball, and gardening but was never happier than with his wife and their usual four dogs working on his land. His fondest pastime was training and caring for dogs, especially springer spaniels and pound rescue dogs.
Joe took great pleasure in sporting events, and was a lifelong Hilander and Husky. He took great pleasure in watching his grandchildren, nieces and nephews in competition.
Joe is survived by his cherished brother John Schaffer of Portland, Oregon. His sister Dianne (Schaffer) Moore preceded him in death. He reserved a special spot in his heart for his son Joe Jr. and his beloved daughter Jaime Mejia (Raul) of Longview, along with 4 cherished grandchildren–Madelyn, Natalie, and Preston Mejia, and Joey Lenard-Schaffer of Winlock. He also loved his many nieces and nephews. Joe highly valued the many friends he made throughout life.
His beloved papillons became a passion later in life – Jack, Bug and Charlie will miss Joe tremendously.
A funeral mass will be held on January 25 at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 2200 Allen Street, Kelso, Washington.
A Celebration of Joe’s Life will be held this spring.

Longtime Kelso resident Lonnie Lee Jarrell, 76, passed away Dec. 17, 2018, at Vibra Specialty Hospital in Portland.
He was born May 31, 1942, in Dexter, Mo., to Curtis Lee and Ruth Esther (Arnold) Jarrell. Lonnie graduated from Kelso High School in 1960 and proudly served in the Army from May 1964 to May 1966.
Lonnie was a technical tradesman working through Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 26 until retiring in 2007. He genuinely enjoyed talking with anyone, and was always eager to offer his help with mechanical projects. He was guided throughout his life by a strong faith and will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
Lonnie is survived by a daughter, Amanda Jarrell; two granddaughters, Acacia Pottschmidt and Saran Pottschmidt; four siblings, Rose Marie Covel, Clara Jo Manning, Jerry Ray Jarrell and Emma Lou Fields; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. Friday at Cascade Northwest Funeral Chapel at Green Hills Memorial Gardens. A viewing is planned from 11 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Dan Norman, 69, of Longview passed away Sept. 12, 2018, under Hospice care.
He was born March 17, 1949, in Avenal, Calif., to Grady and Kathleen (Burgin) Norman. Dan was a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 26. He was a past president of the Monticello Lions, a member of the Corvette Club, and a coin and stamp collector. He enjoyed restoring his 1966 Corvette Coupe, a Concours d’ Elegance trophy winner. Dan was a colorful character. He was ornery and mischievous, but always good-hearted.
Dan is survived by his mother and two sisters.
A memorial open house is planned from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Heron Point Clubhouse, 234 Concord Place, in Longview.
It is with great sadness that PSE reports the passing of Gene Richardson. Gene was a GS Operator in Jackson Prairie and he worked at PSE for more than 28 years. Gene will be remembered for his kindness, compassion and gentle demeanor. He was a passionate Seattle sports fan following the Seahawks, Huskies and Mariners.

David G. Moss, 69, of Castle Rock, WA passed away March 24, 2016 at home. He was born February 16, 1947 to Emery and Mary (Matson) Moss in Longview. He graduated from Castle Rock High School in 1965 and was a pipefitter/welder for JH Kelly until his retirement in 2002.
David had many friends from his high school days, little league coaching and working at Fibre, Norpac and Weyerhaeuser. He built a cabin in Alaska and wintered in Arizona. His family was the most important thing in his life and he was so proud of all of them.
David is survived by his wife, Linda (Patton) of 50 years; his daughter, Pam LeMonds (Bill); and son, Michael Moss (Karen); four grandsons, Sam, Ridge, Ryder and River; and one granddaughter, Hannah.
A funeral is scheduled for Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 2pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 312 1st Ave SW, Castle Rock. Viewing will be from 12pm-1pm at Hubbard Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a children’s hospital of your choice. Hubbard Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
