Frequently Asked questions

  • A journeyman UA member from another Local has two different ways in which they can work in Local 26 jurisdiction. They may get on our out of work list and receive a dispatch. Or if they are currently employed by one of our signatory contractors and have been with them for at least 6 months, they may qualify for Freedom of Movement (FOM) to a Local 26 jobsite. “Call Before You Work” is a slogan we have adopted to remind members they must call ahead and receive approval prior to beginning work onsite.
  • Apprentices are approved by the sending and receiving Local training director on a case-by-case basis

  • Yes, a member may work in any Local 26 zone that was indicated on the original work order form. However, if only one zone was selected and a contractor desires to transfer the member to another job in a different zone, the member must be employed for 6
    months before being able to do so.
  • Per diem/subsistence may apply in these situations. Please refer to the appropriate agreement for details. Additionally, we always encourage contractors to call an agent if they are uncertain.

  • Contractors are required to notify the Local of contract awards in excess of $1,000,000, we then work to schedule a suitable date and time for a pre job conference. However, we do recommend notifying the Local of the small projects as well. We are firm believers in early communication as this can help us ensure our partner contractors success and reduce potential jobsite issues before they arise.
  • Yes, the MCAWW and Local 26 have a long history of working together on many fronts across the industry.
  • Yes, in most instances this would be covered through our participation with the Washington State Association. For areas beyond the state, a contractor must have a “Yellow Label” agreement to avoid potential issues.
